Use the Visual Gallery to access the visuals defined in Damstra Insights.
As creator and owner of a visual, you are automatically granted to read, write, and delete the visual in the Visual Gallery.
The Visual Gallery page includes the following features:
- The Add Visual button allows you to add a new visual to the Visual Gallery if you have the Creator access.
- The table lists and allows you to maintain defined visuals to which you have access. You can add, edit, delete, and favourite visuals in this table depending on your access privileges.
- A Search Box. Use to search for a visual in the table by all fields, or a specific field such as Type, Name, Data Source, and Author.
Local visuals exist only on the dashboard on which they were created. Convert to a Visual Gallery visual and add to the Visual Gallery at any time. Visual gallery visuals can be converted to a local visual at any time. See Convert Visual Gallery Visuals and Local Visuals.
Access the Visual Gallery
To access the visual gallery, log into Damstra Insights. Select Visual Gallery on the UI menu () or the top-level navigation menu or select the Visuals box on the Home page. The Visuals page appears, and visuals are listed in a table format.
You can select and open a visual in the visual gallery to make a copy of a visual if needed.
Search Box
If there are many visuals included in your visual gallery, you may need to search and filter for what you need.
You can use the search bar to perform a search and a filter to filter all items or your search results, using built in filters or content tags.
You can search many of the columns in your list to find what you need. Select All to search all searchable columns, or select an option available from the drop-down menu, such as Author, Name, or Type. You can also allow you to search the text of a Description associated with an item.
Enter some characters into the search field. Damstra Insights hides items that don't match your partial search criteria. Narrow the results further by entering a complete search term or character string, or by performing a more complex search.
To perform a complex search, you can include the following special characters in the Search field:
| Character | Use to ... |
| & or : | Conditionally AND items in the search string. |
| | | Conditionally OR items in the search string. |
Optionally, use these column keywords in complex searches and map to columns in the list.
| Keyword | Use to identify a search for ... |
| author | The name of an author in the Author column. |
| Connection (data source) | The name of a connection in the Connection column |
| name | The name of an item in the Name column. |
| type | The type of an item in the Type column |
| description | Items with specific words in the Description. |
For example, in the Visual Gallery, the following search string would search for visuals with names that include the characters safety and that were created by user chris:
name:safety & author:chris
If no visual in the list meet both of these criteria, a message is returned indicating that no items match the current search.
Buttons
The buttons on the page allow easy access to saved visuals, as well as other visuals created by other users in your Damstra Insights environment. They also allow you to create a new visual and filter the visuals shown.
